It’s Not Hard: Get The Lowdown on ED Treatment in Arkansas

Most men will deal with sexual performance issues at some point in their life. Whether it’s problems getting and maintaining an erection, low sex drive, premature ejaculation, or a similar issue, you’re far from alone in your struggle.

There are lots of reasons men don’t want to talk about it. The biggest: there’s still a lot of shame around erectile dysfunction (ED), despite it being so common among men. ED issues can feel embarrassing, frustrating, and maybe even frightening—especially if you’re unsure where the issue is coming from.

Listen—we get it. We understand not wanting to talk about it or hoping that it goes away on its own, but not addressing it only makes the issue worse.

If you’re ready to improve your sex life, or just get back to feeling like yourself, the experts at The Edge at Pinnacle Point are here to help you get back to getting hard.

How? ED Treatment in Arkansas.

With our available ED treatments, like Gainswave, we can treat the root of sexual dysfunction problems and give you the tools and knowledge needed to provide long-lasting results.

GAINSWave for Erectile Dysfunction

The most common sexual health issue facing men is erectile dysfunction. But despite being so common, not enough men know much about it. There are many reasons why men don’t feel comfortable discussing the causes of ED—often, feelings of shame, frustration, and anger.

GAINSWave is an ideal ED treatment in Arkansas, as it provides effective treatment for patients of all ages!

Whether the issue is occasional or chronic, erectile dysfunction most commonly occurs when there is a blockage that prevents blood flow to the penis during arousal. This blood flow is essential in getting and maintaining an erection.

GAINSWave treatment is different and more effective than common oral medications because it can treat the issue at its source. GAINSwave is a shockwave therapy treatment that uses high-frequency, low-intensity sound waves to invigorate the muscle tissue in the penis. The acoustic waves used in the treatment also help trigger a healing response that supports the growth of new and healthy blood vessels.

Additionally, if the dysfunction is caused by arterial plaque buildup or blockages in the blood vessels of the penis, GAINSWave helps to break up those obstructions in the shaft.

Medication Options for ED Treatment in Arkansas

Most of you have probably heard of Viagra for treating ED, so we’ll start with that one! Then, we’ll dive into TRIMIX, a different ED medication.

Viagra

Viagra, also known by its generic name sildenafil, is the single most common medication for ED treatment in Arkansas and world-wide. Since its introduction in 1998, Viagra has helped millions of men regain their sexual confidence and improve their quality of life.

How It Works

Viagra relaxes the muscle cells in the blood vessels in the penis to allow more blood flow, therefore a sustainable erection.

During sexual stimulation, the release of nitric oxide in the penis triggers the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which relaxes the smooth muscles and allows blood vessels to widen. This increased blood flow to the penis leads to an erection.

However, in men with erectile dysfunction, an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) breaks down cGMP too quickly, hindering the normal process of achieving an erection. Viagra blocks the action of this enzyme, allowing cGMP to accumulate and promoting prolonged and sustained penile blood flow.

When a man takes Viagra, the active ingredient sildenafil citrate absorbs into the bloodstream. When it reaches the penile tissues, it selectively inhibits PDE5, which helps to maintain the levels of cGMP and enhance the natural erectile response. However, sexual stimulation is still required to initiate the release of nitric oxide, which triggers the cGMP production and ultimately leads to an erection.

Important Note

It is important to note that Viagra does not automatically result in an erection, but rather helps facilitate the process by improving blood flow to the penis. The medication does not increase sexual desire or arousal on its own, but it can enhance the ability to achieve and sustain an erection when sexual stimulation occurs.

It typically takes about 30 minutes to an hour for Viagra to take effect, and the effects can last up to five hours, depending on the individual.

Side Effects

Viagra is generally well-tolerated. But like any medication, it can have side effects. The most common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Indigestion
  • Nasal congestion
  • Dizziness

Rare, but more severe side effects may occur, such as priapism (a prolonged and painful erection lasting more than four hours), sudden vision or hearing loss, and allergic reactions.

It is crucial to consult a healthcare professional before using Viagra to ensure it is safe and appropriate for an individual’s specific health condition and medications.

TRIMIX

Trimix is a medication used to treat ED when other treatments aren’t working or are not suitable for an individual. It’s a combination of three medications: alprostadil, phentolamine, and papaverine.

These three drugs work together to improve blood flow to the penis, allowing for a successful erection. Fair warning: this is about to get very technical.

Alprostadil

Definition: A synthetic form of prostaglandin E1, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps dilate blood vessels and improve blood flow.

Function: It relaxes the smooth muscles in the walls of the blood vessels in the penis, allowing them to widen and increase blood flow. Alprostadil is the primary active ingredient in Trimix.

Phentolamine

Definition: An alpha-adrenergic antagonist that helps to enhance the vasodilatory effects of alprostadil.

Function: It works by blocking the action of alpha receptors on the smooth muscle cells, further relaxing the blood vessels and increasing blood flow to the penis.

Papaverine

Definition: A smooth muscle relaxant that also aids in dilating the blood vessels.

Function: It works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase, similar to how drugs like Viagra function. By inhibiting this enzyme, papaverine helps maintain the levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), a chemical that promotes the relaxation of smooth muscles and improves blood flow.

How Trimix Works

When Trimix is injected directly into the erectile tissue of the penis using a fine needle, the combination of these three medications works synergistically to create an erection. You or a partner can administer the injections at home following instructions from a healthcare professional.

Important Note: Trimix should only be used under medical supervision, as incorrect dosage or administration can lead to side effects or complications. That may not sound especially erotic, but the dosage of Trimix is tailored to the specific needs of each individual. Dosage is determined by the severity of your ED, overall health, and response to the medication.

What Goes Up Must Come Down

So, it’s worth mentioning, Trimix is a powerful cocktail. As a result, it may require medical intervention using another medication to reverse its effects. The primary method is injecting a medication called phenylephrine into the penis. Phenylephrine is an alpha-adrenergic agonist that helps constrict blood vessels, reducing blood flow to the penis and ending your erection.

Side Effects

Some common side effects of Trimix include penile pain, aching, or priapism (prolonged erection). Priapism is a serious condition and requires immediate medical attention to prevent potential long-term complications.

What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?

Before beginning ED treatment in Arkansas,, the first step is to talk about it. It’s the best and fastest way to destigmatize the issue and get men struggling with ED back to feeling confident in bed. So, let’s talk.

Starting with the basics—what causes erectile dysfunction?

Age

Though the issue can affect men of all ages, you’re more likely to deal with ED as you age. Roughly 40% of men experience ED by the time they’re in their 40s, and that number jumps to 70% by age 70.

Health Conditions

ED isn’t simply a result of aging, however. Sometimes, it’s the side effect of a particular medical condition. These can include:

  • Diabetes
  • Low testosterone levels
  • High blood pressure
  • Enlarged prostate
  • And more

Lifestyle

Certain lifestyle factors can also contribute to ED. Including:

  • Heavy Drinking
  • Smoking
  • Drug Use
  • Sedentary Lifestyle
  • Obesity
  • High-Fat Diet

While these risk factors aren’t a guarantee a man is going to experience ED, men who do these things are more likely to experience sexual dysfunction issues

Medications

Certain medications can also play a role. Some of these medications include:

  • High blood pressure medicines
  • Beta Blockers
  • Certain Painkillers
  • Antihistamine medicines
  • Antidepressants
  • Antipsychotics & Psychiatric Medication

Mental Health

Mental health plays a major role in ED issues.

Our Medical Director, Dr. Haney, explains it best: “It frequently becomes a vicious cycle where feeling poorly mentally or physically leads to performance issues.” Men become anxious it will happen again, so they focus on it during their next sexual encounter.

Performance anxiety can then lead to sexual dysfunction, which after a few sessions, becomes a full-on mental block. This often worsens a patient’s emotional and mental well-being, leading to erectile dysfunction. Without a clear physical condition impacting sexual function, it can be hard to identify the problem.
